I was a partner and Vice Chairman at Deloitte LLP, one of the ‘Big 4’ professional services firms. I spent more than 30 years helping clients of all sizes deal with their challenges and realise their aspirations. Whilst my specialism was tax and auditing, I led specialist multi-national teams in many other areas, such as transformation, acquisitions and disposals, managing risks and implementing controls. The directors of my clients trusted me to manage the global resources of Deloitte (more than 300,000 people worldwide) to provide joined-up solutions. Prior to my business career, I lectured in music at Oxford University. I am still a recital-level organist.

I am a food industry lifer, starting my career in frozen food and ice cream with Unilever, but for the last 25 years I have enjoyed the challenging and rewarding world of fresh produce. I have worked in the UK and USA, as a supplier and retailer. I now have a number of non-exec roles including Chairman of ESG Drysdale.  While at Branston, one of the UK’s largest potato businesses, I led a team that grew our business by developing smart ways to find a good home for every potato. I am excited to join the inspirational team at TBBT, as we look for even better ways to avoid food waste and provide vital support to some of the more vulnerable members of our society.

I have worked in food retail supply chain and online for about twenty years and have worked with Mark on a number of projects in the past. I've personally supported Shelter for a long time and come from a family that has a strong charitable background, Scottish Presbyterians. It's not just supporting people that appealed to me about TBBT but also the way the model helps reduce waste for the food industry.

After a brief spell as a journalist, I have spent the last 25 years working in communications and corporate affairs roles, covering media, internal communications, government affairs and corporate social responsibility. I spent 13 years at Tesco, including nearly three years running the UK Community programmes which was when I first met Mark. I worked with TBBT during Covid when I worked at Greene King and have recently moved to Royal Mail where my role includes developing the company’s ESG strategy.

I have spent most of my career in international journalism, including senior editorial roles at the BBC and CNN where I led high-performing teams across the world. My work has combined governance oversight with high-impact storytelling, helping organisations navigate reputational challenges, and lead organisational transformation across complex global institutions. A few years ago I pivoted my career to focus on environmental issues and I currently lead a large philanthropic and investment organisation that is focused on ocean protection and my role centres on governance providing de-risk capital that can build systems for long-term impact, and environmental resilience. It is my passion for the environment and social justice that brought me to TBBT - an organisation that works on both of these issues through their work on reducing food waste and tackling the acute cost of living crisis in the UK. I'm very proud to be part of this work.

I am currently Deputy Chairman of LDH (La Doria) Ltd having joined the Company in 2007. Since emigrating to the UK in 1988, I have worked in the food industry covering the importation and supply of both fresh produce and ambient grocery products to all the major UK food retailers. On arrival in the UK, I worked for the Fyffes Group before co-founding Gerber Fresh Produce in 1991. The Company was sold and I joined LDH (La Doria) Ltd as Managing Director, taking on the role as CEO in 2015. In June 2024 I stepped down as CEO and became Deputy Chairman. In 2023 I was the recipient of a ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ from Tesco. Given the important role that TBBT plays in ensuring families are able to eat nutritious food that they could not otherwise afford, after three arduous interviews, I was delighted to become a Trustee in 2024!

I am a commercial leader with over 15 years’ experience across FMCG, retail, digital commerce, and global consumer brands. My career has included leadership roles at organisations such as Diageo, McCormick, Danone, and Heinz, where I have led commercial strategy, customer partnerships, and transformation programmes across multiple markets. I am deeply motivated by organisations that create meaningful, real-world impact, which is why I am particularly excited to serve on the Trustee Board of The Bread and Butter Thing. TBBT’s work sits at the intersection of food access, affordability, and waste reduction — delivering tangible, everyday support to families and communities who need it most. I am inspired by the scale and practicality of the model, and I look forward to supporting the team as the organisation continues to expand its reach and help more people across the UK.

I have spent my career in either food retail, hospitality, or food manufacturing, managing large, diverse teams or leading the People and Organisation function. I currently look after everything people and communications related for one of the UK's largest branded food manufacturers, and I'm passionate about how food can improve lives and bring people together, wherever they are and whatever their circumstances.
