When did you join TBBT?

I’ve been part of the TBBT journey since inception in December 2016. I joined as a trustee in March 2017.


What was your background before joining?

I’ve worked in the charity sector and food waste sector for over 20 years. Currently CEO of FoodCycle, a national charity that builds communities through the provision of a weekly three-course meal made from surplus


What appealed to you about working for TBBT?

In my role I meet people every day who are having to skip meals as they can’t make ends meet, or whose only hot meal of the week is at FoodCycle as they can’t afford to turn on the cooker. I’m excited about being part of TBBT as I believe this model will shake things up and ensure everyone can have dignified access to food and a more affordable life.


What’s the best thing about your job?

I really love the difference we make to people’s lives. In my work I meet the most inspirational people – who are often FoodCycle’s volunteers. They put so much effort, care and passion into their volunteering roles, as they want to help our guests have a lovely time whilst enjoying some of the best food in town.


What’s your own favourite type of food?

There’s nothing better than a plate of creamy mashed potato. I also love tomatoes – something I’ve adored since I was a child when I regularly used to make my own tomato sandwiches. In fact, as a little girl I used to swap the meat on my plate with the vegetables on my brother’s plate when mum wasn’t looking!


What signature recipe would you share with TBBT members?

My Dorset Apple Cake – indulgent with a hint of healthy with a topping of apples (great food waste recipe too.)


Your top tip for reducing food waste in the home:

When you’ve used only part of a lemon – chop the rest into quarters or eighths and put in the freezer. They make the perfect ice cube for a gin and tonic.
